Haraway Talks: Reading and Figuring Worlds

“Haraway Talks: Reading and Figuring Worlds”
When: Wednesdays, 6:30 – 8:00 PM, October 2020 – March 2021
Where: This program takes place virtually over Zoom
Facilitator: Mathew Arthur

Every Wednesday from 6:30 to 8:00pm we come together over Zoom to read aloud from interviews with feminist technoscience theorist Donna Haraway. Her work explores how human lives are tangled up in histories of science and empire and in messy relationships with nonhuman others. She generates concepts and figures that dream up ways of living together on a damaged planet.

You can find the full list of readings at http://doingsts.com/, but there is nothing to read in advance. We take turns reading aloud, you can read a paragraph or a page—or just listen along. Because we are reading to learn new and surprising things together and from our own lived knowledges, there’s no need to worry about making mistakes or correcting one another.

If you are interested in joining on Wednesdays, please email h.u.m@ubc.ca for the Zoom link and password.
